Custom fire apparatus is defined as Fire Equipment that was built at least 60% from non-previously assembled parts. This would include chemical devices, pumpers, aerial devices and hose wagons;
- Early Non-Motorized Firefighting equipment (all years)
- Early Motorized Firefighting vehicles (even those built on other manufacturer's vehicles) (prior to 1930)
- Motorized Firefighting vehicles built on Pirsch-Manufactured frames or chassis (even those utilizing premanufactured cabs)
- Certain specialty equipment not included above
Conventional design
Cab-Forward design (Pirsch Safety-Cab)
Commericial fire apparatus is defined as Fire Equipment that was constructed of less than 60% non-previously assembled parts. This would include ;
- Firefighting vehicles built on commercially-available chassis and frames provided or acquired by Pirsch to reduce costs and build-times. These were to include; General Motors, Ford, Dodge, International Harvester, Studebaker and others.
